India to start testing fighter-launched Kamikaze drones

Air Launched Flexible Asset Swarm (ALFA-S) Kamikaze drones will be the first component developed for the Combat Air Teaming System programme by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Newspace Research & Technologies.

In the coming months, developmental tests of the ALFA-S Kamikaze drones, which is capable of gliding to targets more than 100 kilometres from the launch point, will commence from ground-based systems, as prototype fabrication is nearing completion.

ALFA-S loitering munition that can be air-launched from fighter jets from a POD will be ready for developmental trials by 2024; however, ground-launched ALFA-S loitering munition that can be mounted on vehicles or Tanks is also under development for ground forces.
