TEDBF: LRDE-Navy meet to discuss GaN-AESA fire-control radar

DRDO’s Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE), Bengaluru, is holding talks with the Indian Navy on development of an GaN-AESA fire-control radar for the Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF) program that will have its first flight by 2027.

The Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar will be based on the baseline radar being developed for the IAF’s AMCA fighter jets, but will include a slew of other improvements and enhancements to meet Maritime requirements.

The TEDBF AESA FCR will be capable of taking a SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) map, running it through an algorithm on the aircraft, and geo-registering it.

Some of the features discussed include sea surface search and tracking, as well as real-time targeting data transmission to multiple weapons at the same time.
